| About the Editor—Alice B. Miller |
| Alice B. Miller is the founder and principal of Plum Communications, Inc. (www.plumcomm.com), a Long Island, NY-based editorial services and marketing communications company. Since 2007, hundreds of her photoimaging industry articles have been published in print and online and her inspired editing has transformed the writings and websites of a growing clientele of photographers, manufacturers, publications, and associations. An active member of the photoimaging community, she is the director of public relations for the International Photographic Council, content editor of PhotoMeetUps.com, and an advisory board member of NyghtFalcon photography studios. As editor of Studio Photography: Business Behind the Image from 2000 to 2007, Alice consistently delivered on the editorial mission — helping photographers to grow their businesses — and cultivated relationships with industry leaders, manufacturers, and readers at trade shows, conferences. She served as a judge for the Black & White Spider Awards in 2005 and 2006, was the sole juror for the Center for Fine Art Photography’s Black & White Online Exhibition in 2007, and was guest speaker at the Defense Information School Photography Workshop for military photojournalists at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, in 2006. She was named a vice president and board member of the International Photographic Council in 2007. Previously, Alice was editor of the employee magazine at Johnson & Higgins, the world’s first insurance brokerage; account supervisor at Bozell & Jacobs PR; and editor of the membership magazine of the Young Presidents’ Organization, an international education association for corporate presidents. She began her publishing career at Cosmopolitan magazine as the art director’s assistant and copy editor. She graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College, City University of New York, with a B.A. in fine art. Alice lives on Long Island, New York, with her husband, teenaged son, and black lab. |
